Prof Nyong’o had organized a sugarcane farmers’ consultative meeting when members of his advanced team were roughed up and chased away by the unruly youth.

The farmers who had converged at the venue of the meeting were whipped and had to scamper for safety.

The vehicles of some MCAs who had arrived at the scene had their windscreens smashed as they hurriedly left the venue.

The Senator who had arrived near the venue had to be driven off to avoid confrontation with the youth.

Prof Nyong’o had moved to court alongside Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo to stop the sale of sugar factories under privatization and was set to brief the farmers.

Briefing the press in Muhoroni, Nyong’o condemned the action of the youth.

He linked Governor Jack Ranguma to the incident.

“Why would someone engage unemployed youth in these silly activities. This is unacceptable and this kind of politics must be condemned,” he said.

The Kisumu Senator has declared he would challenge Mr Ranguma for the seat of governor in 2017.

Nyong’o said he will not be cowed with such acts noting that nobody will stop his movements within the county.

“Today (Friday) Governor Ranguma is in my back yard in Seme, nobody has chased him away. Politics should not be reduced to this level,” he said.
