President Uhuru Kenyatta has yet again launched a scathing attack on opposition leader Raila Odinga by accusing him of playing destructive politics.
They two are expected to face each other in the much anticipated 2017 polls even though Odinga has not been formally nominated by the opposition team.
Uhuru and his Deputy William Ruto traversed Busia and Kakamega counties on Friday, a region perceived to be strongholds of Odinga.
“The opposition team should spare us from destructive politics which they subject us to every electioneering year. Kenyans are tired with political squabbles that are aimless and unnecessary,” he said.
“They should engage in politics based on policies and should recognise that political rivalry is not equal to enmity,” added Kenyatta.
Odinga has been critical of Kenyatta’s administration and has persistently accused the president of steering a corrupt regime.
