Referendum calls suffered yet another blow on Friday when a tough talking President Uhuru Kenyatta insisted that changing of the constitution will not solve Kenya's problems.
In recent weeks, Uhuru's newly found friend, Raila Odinga, has been pushing for governance structure that would see introduction of parliamentary system of government.
But in Meru, Uhuru for the second time rebuked constitutional amendment crusaders, an indication that he is not ready to support Raila's proposal.
"The work we are called to do is to build trust and then change hearts and minds. We have many laws in the country and a fine constitution.
"It is not the latter that will get us to our destination, it is the spirit that we have when obeying the law," said Uhuru.
Further, Uhuru insisted, his regime will focus on service delivery adding that he is not ready to tolerate politicking.
In their secret MoU, Raila is said to have reached a consensus with the president to have some laws amended.
