An MP has accused President Uhuru Kenyatta of ignoring the Mijikenda community while constitution his last term cabinet.

Speaking in Mombasa on Saturday after meeting a section of MPs from the Coast region, Kilifi North MP Owen Baya said Uhuru's move clearly shows he does not value the community.

Tribes constituting the Mijikenda community are spread across Coast region which overwhelmingly voted for opposition leader Raila Odinga during the August 8 general election.

"We expected to get at least one cabinet post. Regions that did not wholly support his candidature including Nyanza have been rewarded. Why is this so?" Baya posed.

Uhuru on Friday constituted fully his 22-member cabinet closing speculation that he was in disagreement with his deputy on who should be in the line up that will be forwarded to Parliament for approval.

In Coast region only Najib Balala landed a cabinet slot, retaining his Tourism docket.

"The fact that the Mijikenda community is no where in represented in cabinet implies they have been pushed away from the table where key decision are made," Baya said.

He, however, added that the region will continue pushing for secession since the move is the only options that holds the region's key to development and prosperity.
