Speaking on Monday during the commemoration of the 38th anniversary of the late Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, Raila hailed Mzee Kenyatta’s heroism for sacrificing much for the country.

He said that he and President Uhuru Kenyatta speak often when they are sensitive issues which need to be ironed out.

“Whenever we have political quarrels, sometimes we talk. The president calls me or I call him. When things are very hot, we talk,” said Raila.

During the memorial held at the Holy Family Minor Basilica, Raila was invited to speak by President Kenyatta. He promised that Kenyans will never again be divided along political lines.

He added, “Our families have been friends for a long time. Mzee Kenyatta sacrificed for the independence of this country, paid heavily for our freedom. That is why I had to attend this memorial.”

Uhuru was delighted to see Raila at the service.

“I am happy to see my brother Raila Odinga here. Let him come and salute the people,” said Kenyatta.

The president also assured that Kenyans will never again shed blood because of politics.
