President Uhuru Kenyatta is reportedly angry with education Cabinet Secretary over campaigns in vote rich Gusii region.

Recently, Jubilee strategists earmarked both Kisii and Nyamira as tossups, a claim which the opposition has periodically dismissed.

With Matiang’i seemingly the head of campaigns, the president is said to be unhappy with a section of politicians who are close to Matiangi, who he believes will not tilt votes in his favour.

“All is not well and the President has occasionally reprimanded Matiang’i over the issue. He has some reservations on Matiang’i’s political friends,” said a source privy to State House politics in confidence.

The source added: “Matiang’i has responded by ignoring those politicians and is now working alone using professionals to deliver.”

Among those said to be having issues with the president include area Senator Chris Obure who ditched ODM for Jubilee in January.

Obure’s whose Jubilee governorship victory was nullified by the court is believed to have been blocked from accessing State house over his ‘inability’ to deliver.

In recent times, Matiangi has been seen campaigning on his own contrary to the part where dozens of local politicians used to accompany him.
