Kenyans are now able to visit the Safaricom Sports Stadium, Kasarani, for the IAAF World U18 Championships, without entry fee worries.This is after President Uhuru Kenyatta announced that Kenyans should be allowed to attend and watch the global games, free of charge.Speaking when he officially opened the five-day event that kicked off, Wednesday July 12, Uhuru said Kenyans should not be asked entry fee, after he saw an almost empty stadium, which had few fans, watching the games.“I wish to assure you that Kenya is a secure and peaceful country and continues to embrace democratic ideals as we progress in building our nation," he affirmed foreign visitors, and fans, watching the athletic games.
The First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, who is the patron of the IAAF championships, Kenya Chapter, asked the visitors to feel at home, adding that Kenya embraces sporting events, to nature talent, an grow the economy.Over 2,000 athletes and sports managers from 131 countries, and over 5,000 are attending the event, which Uhuru said will see Kenya reap at least Sh2.5 billion.
