Nakuru County will join the rest of the country in mourning the former first lady Lucy Kibaki.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has announced that three days will be set aside specifically to mourn the late Lucy who died early this week while receiving treatment in London. 

In a communiqué from State House through his spokesperson Manoa Esipisu on Thursday, all Kenyans have been urged to join retired president Mwai Kibaki's family at this difficult moment in mourning the departed Lucy. 

 The remains of mama Lucy are expected in the country on Sunday after which the official mourning period starts on Monday to Wednesday. 

"The national flag is expected to be hoisted at half mast throughout throughout the mourning period," Esipisu said. 

Mama Lucy has been described by many leaders as a mother, mentor, strong woman and role model who used his position to positively transform the society.
