President Uhuru Kenyatta earlier today, held talks with Economic Freedom Party (EFP) leaders who paid him a courtesy call at State House, Nairobi.
Led by their chairman Issack Hassan Abey and the Party’s Secretary General Abdullahi Gessey, the party leaders expressed their desire to partner and work together with Jubilee party in achieving the agenda of entrenching democracy and uniting all Kenyans.
They said EFP was formed so as to give wananchi and more so the North Eastern region residents, a wider choice for them to participate fully in the election exercise.
Former senior Devolution Ministry Administrator Hassan Noor Hassan who is vying for Mandera Governorship on the party’s ticket assured the President of the party’s support in his re-election bid.
“We support you as our President and we are mobilising voters to ensure your get 98% of the votes in Mandera County and in other places,” said Noor Hassan.
He said it is in the interest of peace in the region that they decided to partner with Jubilee Party to deliver votes in favour of President Kenyatta.
The party, which has members comprising of current serving MPs Mohamed Maalim, Fathia Mahbub and Hassan Osman assured the President and his Deputy of their unwavering support as the country gears for the general election to be held on 8th August.
Elders Alinoor Sheikh and M. K. Ali said the Economic Freedom Party is one of the political vehicles that will enable Kenyans and especially Mandera residents to support the President in his re-election bid.
“We have seen and tasted the fruits of your good leadership. During the famine we saw what your government did to ensure no one perished because of hunger. We have witnessed delivery of services and we are truly satisfied with your leadership,” said Elder Ali.
The two elders said it is because of the good leadership of President Kenyatta that their party decided to formalise a partnership with Jubilee Party.
President Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto expressed their gratitude to the Economic Freedom Party leaders, saying the willingness to partner with Jubilee demonstrated true friendship.
The President thanked them for finding an amicable solution to the political challenges within the region.
“As far as I am concerned, your party is Jubilee. We will not in any way be biased, all of you are our people. It is wananchi who will decide their leaders,” said President Kenyatta.
The President assured them of his support as they conduct their campaigns.
