The President says that his government has put in place proper measures that will guarantee free and transparent polls.
In State of the Nation address at Parliament on Wednesday, Uhuru said that his government will work with relevant agencies to guarantee Kenyans fair polls.
He said that proper legislation have been put in place to ensure a transparent general election.
The President cited the Elections Offenses Act 2017, Political Parities amendment Act 2016 and the Election laws amendment act 2017 as some of the key laws that have been reviewed and passed to enhance accountability of the electoral process.
President Kenyatta warned politicians against dividing Kenyans on tribal grounds as the country heads to the polls.
He said inciters and rumor mongers will be dealt with accordingly.
The President also asked Kenyans to remain peaceful and shun politicians who preach disunity.
“I urge Kenyans not give in to politicians who spew hate speech and propagate rumors and instead embrace unity before, during and after the August 8 general election,” the President said.
