President Uhuru Kenyatta has reiterated the government’s commitment to the war against illicit brews in the country.
Speaking during the commissioning of Molo-Olenguruone Road at Moto Shopping Centre, Kenyatta assured residents that the government will win the war against illicit liquor.
"We will not back down on the war against illicit brew until we flush it out completely. I assure you that we will end it," Kenyatta said.
Last year the president ordered the crackdown on second generation brew and illicit liquor across the country, an operation that saw hundreds of second generation liquor brands destroyed.
At the same time, hit out at politicians accusing the government of achieving nothing. He challenged the critics to give credit where it is due urging them to indulge in transformative politics.
"They say that we are doing nothing, for sure, does a road like this one construct itself? Let them acknowledge what we have done and tell the citizens what they would better. That way we can move Kenya forward," the president said.
Kenyatta also urged residents of Molo and Kuresoi to keep the peace ahead of next years' general election.
He stressed on the need for peace if the region is to realise development.
"I urge you to keep peace and live in togetherness because with peace we can be able to achieve a lot for the region and the country," said Uhuru.
He was accompanied by Deputy President William Ruto, Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua, area leaders and other government officials.
