President Uhuru Kenyatta has torn into Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka over his remarks in Meru region that the Jubilee administration has neglected the area residents.

Speaking on Tuesday during his tour of Tharaka Nithi, the Head of State accused Kalonzo of doing so little to improve the welfare of the residents despite being a close neighbour across Kitui county.

"Kalonzo is your neighbour here and yet has nothing to show in the region, but he is daring enough to criticise us when in four years we have built the first tarmac road, a technical college and a university here," Uhuru said.

Uhuru instead called on the locals to reelect him for a second term, pledging to initiate more development projects.

"Jubilee is a caring government and we have proved it through the development we have implemented here and across the country," he said.

On his part, Deputy President William Ruto challenged the residents to elect Jubilee Party candidates during the forthcoming polls.
