Opposition leader Raila Odinga suffered a major setback on Monday after losing a request to hold a rally at the historical Gusii stadium.
Both President Uhuru Kenyatta and Odinga were scheduled to be in Kisii County on Monday but the choice of venue once again locked the two principals in a major tussle.
But Jubilee team led by Charles Nyachae managed to secure Gusii stadium for the rally leading to opposition’s decision to reschedule Odinga’s plan to today.
Uhuru’s Monday tour comes barely two days after visiting neighboring Nyamira County, with Jubilee strategists earmarking the two counties as swing regions.
Cumulatively, the two counties have a total of 850, 000 votes and analysts say opposition team still commands majority of the electorates from the region.
In 2013, Odinga managed to score slightly over 70 percent f votes with Uhuru managing to scoop over 25 percent of votes cast.
While Odinga works closely with Governor James Ongwae and Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire, Uhuru is banking on Senator Chris Obure and Charles Nyachae.
