Speaking during a rally in Makueni county Wednesday, the head of state asked Kalonzo to team up with him since he had no stake in the opposition outfit.

"I want to ask my brother Kalonzo, kindly come work with us.Once I am done with my term you can team up with William Ruto to drive the country forward," he said.

Once a key ally of Uhuru and Ruto, Kalonzo broke ranks with the duo in the run up to the 2013 polls after a deal gone sour over their famous G7 formation.

He later deputised Raila Odinga under the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) in 2013 but they lost to the Jubilee formation under the current leadership.

Uhuru also exuded confidence that he would beat Nasa presidential candidate Raila Odinga adding that Mr Odinga was too obsessed with opinion polls.

The president is pitching camp in Kalonzo's Ukambani turf before he heads south to Coast in a last minute dash for votes before August 8.
