Makueni governor Kivutha Kibwana has President Uhuru Kenya of working with NGOs Coordination Board and independent commission to intimidate Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
The sentiments by Kivutha come in after Kalonzo Musyoka Foundation was shut down for forensic investigation after it emerged that Sh50 million received by the foundation from China and Sh146 million donor funds could not be accounted for.
Kibwana who was speaking at a local vernacular radio station on Wednesday claimed Uhuru had a hand in the NASA principal woes.
"It seems(the government) is getting instruction from somebody with the aim of blackmailing Kalonzo," he said.
"These are the same people who say Kalonzo has done nothing for his community. They want to prove that by shutting down the foundation," he added.
Kibwana urged the NGOs institution to be independent and accept not to be 'puppets' to the executives.
"When these institution begin to listen to the President or other people, they will not be fair in what they do," he said.
The NGO board through their executive director Fazul Mahamad said Kalonzo risks being arrested for money laundering and diversion of donor funds.
NASA settled on ODM leader Raila Odinga as flag bearer and Kalonzo his running mate for the August 8 polls.
