President Uhuru Kenyatta has bid farewell to Colombia Ambassador Maria Eugenia Correa, who will depart Kenya on Friday after completing her three-year tour of duty.

Ms Correa, who will take up a similar posting in South Africa, hailed Kenya’s increasingly influential role in international diplomacy, especially in the pursuit of regional integration, infrastructure growth, peace, stability and rule of law.

“Kenya is playing a very pivotal role in the search for regional peace, stability and rule of law. You are playing an important part in international diplomacy and your leadership in this area is appreciated around the world,” Ms Correa said.

President Kenyatta hailed Colombia’s efforts in securing peace and security, and its growing role as a major player in the affairs of Latin America.

And responding to a request by Ms Correa, President Kenyatta said Kenya would seek to deepen bilateral and trade relations with the southern American nation.

Kenya and Colombia have already negotiated six Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) in a range of fields, which now ready signing.
