President Uhuru Kenyatta has been told to refrain from making statements aimed at belittling NASA leader Raila Odinga.
Speaking on KTN News Sunday,Ndhiwa lawmaker Martin Peters Owino took issue with Uhuru's recent calls for England to facilitate Odinga's movement back home, from London where he was invited to issue leadership talks, terming them as demeaning.
He said that Odinga is a national leader who does not need any person or organization's help to foot his travel bills.
He further defended the former Premier over allegations of hiding behind the invitation to reach out for the international community to intervene in the ongoing political stalemate in the country.
''It is not right that President Kenyatta accuses Raila of going to Britain to invite the international community to intervene in the ongoing political hard times. It is very clear that he went there with only one purpose which was to give lectures on democracy,'' said the MP.
The lawmaker further told the President and the Jubilee team to refrain from making comments suggesting that Raila's withdrawal from the October 26 elections are aimed at forcing for a coalition government with Jubilee saying that the alliance is not interested in that.
''NASA is not interested in a coalition government. We are simply pushing for free and fair polls,'' he said.
