An opposition governor has told President Uhuru Kenyatta not to reward 2017 election losers with cabinet posts.
Speaking at Kaeset Primary School in Angurai South Ward during a funds drive in aid of the completion of Kaeset Anglican Church where Sh300,000 was raised, Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong said voters have lost faith in such losers and it would add no meaning appointing them to plumb jobs.
"If a person losses an election he or she should return to the electorate and wait for the next poll. This should act as punishment for being rejected," he said.
Among August 8 general election poll losers who the president recently appointed to cabinet include former Meru Governor Peter Munya who was appointed Cabinet Secretary for East Africa Community Affairs, Ken Obura who lost in the Kisumu Central MP race and was appointed Chief Administration Secretary (CAS) in Munya's ministry and Ababu Namwamba who was appointed CAS Foreign Affairs ministry.
"When somebody loses, it means the electorate have lost confidence in him or her. It is prudent to allow such people rest for five years as they strategist," Ojaamong said.
Awendo MP Walter Owino who was chief guest at the event said NASA MPs are still in a state of fear as they are still being hunted after opposition chief leader Raila Odinga was sworn in as the people's president on January 30.
"The church should pray for Kenya. If dialogue can make the Country realise peace then be it. If the economy is bad the way it is, all of us will suffer," Owino said.
