NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga is leading President Uhuru Kenyatta in the race for Coast votes, according to the latest opinion poll by Infotrak.
According to the pollster, if elections were held today, Raila would garner 62.9 per cent of the regions 1.7 million votes against President Uhuru Kenyatta’s 32.6 per cent. But despite leading, President Kenyatta has significantly narrowed the gap in the region that has overwhelmingly voted for the former Prime Minister in the last two general elections. In the 2013 elections, Raila garnered 612,057 of the region’s votes against Kenyatta’s 160,083.However, Jubilee Party has been making forays in the region over the last few months in an attempt to get a share of the 1.7 million votes.Kwale County where Raila polled over 80 per cent of the votes in 2013 has been on the Jubilee radar for some time now and their hopes to successfully conquer the county received a major boost when Governor Salim Mvurya ditched ODM for Jubilee.
