Barely a week after compensating people believed to be victims of 2007/08 PEV, president Uhuru Kenyatta could now find himself in trouble after it emerged that the list was cooked.

Kenyatta issued cheque worth Sh800 million that targeted at least 15,000 victims of the bloody violence that occurred in the country.

And a section of IDPs now want the process of compensation to be halted and pave way for proper audit to ascertain genuine beneficiaries.

“Some of us who are registered in the genuine list of IDPs are not included. This exercise should be stopped because it has been hijacked by politicians,” said Leah Kemunto.

“I want to challenge the president to stop the exercise so that we know who is fooling him. We are the genuine people who lost properties yet we were not included,” added Evans Onsomu.

Earlier, it emerged that those in charge of disbursement of the funds were issuing Sh25, 000 instead of the standard amount of Sh50, 000.

Also, Evans Misati, who is in charge of Nyamira was accused of soliciting bribes from the stage managed IDPs before issuing them compensation. He is yet to respond to the claims.
