President Uhuru Kenyatta wrote to his Tanzanian counterpart John Magufuli over NASA’s decision to establish a parallel tallying centre in the neighboring country, reveals Daily Nation.

In a move aimed at curbing alleged rigging, Kenya’s opposition NASA is said to have established three parallel tallying centres that would rely live transmission of results in concurrence with IEBC.

And a Tanzanian official who spoke to the Nation paper says Kenyan authorities raised concerns over permission granted to opposition to establish the parallel tallying centre in Kigamboni.

“Kenyan authorities through the embassy have raised issues over the same but that falls beyond my jurisdiction,” says the official who spoke in confidence.

The official further says: “The matter is before the president and I may really not know the end result because it is a serious issue.”

Based on available records, Magufuli has a smooth relationship with Kenya’s opposition leader Raila Odinga since his days as a Roads Minister.

With only one month to elections, the result of the elections could prove Kenya’s position on her relationship with Tanzania in the next five years.
