President Uhuru Kenyatta has congratulated National Super Alliance (NASA) Presidential candidate Raila Amolo Odinga and other politicians who took part in the last general elections.
Speaking after he was declared the winner of the presidential race, Uhuru said that Raila was a worthy competitor, adding that he is ready to work with him.
“Congratulations to those who have won and those who have lost,” he said.
The newly re-elected President also said that he has nothing personal against the leaders of the opposition, adding that he is ready to work with them in the next five years.
“I reach out to you, I reach out to all your supporters, all those who were elected, we shall work together," he added.
The president also reminded leaders of the opposition as well as their supporters that elections come and go but the nation has to remain united.
“Elections come and go, Kenya is here to stay,” he said. Uhuru and Raila have been long term political rivals. The two leaders battled for the nation’s top seat in 2013 where Uhuru won. In 2017, Uhuru beat Raila once again despite the opposition has cried foul over rigging claims.
