President Uhuru Kenyatta, toured the Luo Nyanza region, Wednesday, taking Jubilee Party campaigns, in three counties.

Accompanied by his deputy, William Ruto, Uhuru campaigned in the region, perceived to be an Opposition (particularly ODM) stronghold.

Nasa presidential candidate Raila Odinga, enjoys wide following from the region.

He toured Kisumu, Homa Bay and Siaya counties, where he commissioned a Sh1 billion bridge in Mbita constituency.

Ruto accompanied him, despite an earlier 'warning' from a section of Homa Bay ODM politicians, that Uhuru should not take Ruto with him.

Led by Homa Bay senator Moses Kajwang’, the leaders said Uhuru was welcomed in the region to campaign for his re-election, but should not be accompanied by the DP.

“I have been informed that the president is soon visiting this county. We welcome him but he should exclude Ruto in his entourage,” Kajwang’, said few days before Uhuru's visit.

He however did not reveal why Uhuru’s DP was not welcomed in the county, with the county Jubilee co-coordinator Odhiambo Makowiti and Karachuonyo MP James Rege fauling him for perpetrating 'prejudice'.

During their tour, Uhuru and Ruto interacted with residents of Ahero in Kisumu County.

"As Jubilee, our priority is peace and stability, without which we cannot realise any meaningful development in our great country Kenya," said Uhuru.

Also present during the tour were Jubilee candidate for Homa Bay gubernatorial post, Tom Alila, Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot, James Rege, among other local leaders.
