President Uhuru Kenyatta's name has been dragged into tribulations facing Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho.

Appearing before a Mombasa Court, over the examination certificate forgery claims, Joho told Justice Eric Ogola, that president Kenyatta had threatened to teach him a lesson.

Uhuru had warned Joho during the reopening of the Mtongwe ferry, that he would 'show him', if Joho continued to joke with him.

Through his lawyer, senator James Orengo (Siaya), Joho indicated the case was a political witch-hunt, to bar him from contesting for the County's governor seat, in the August 8, elections.

"The utterances by Kenyatta directed to Joho, in March cannot be taken lightly. The number of cases popping up from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Kenya National Examinations Council (Knec), the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) and the Attorney General (AG), are all meant to find a basis to stop Joho from running for governorship," Orengo told the Court, Thursday.

The case will be heard April 26.
