President Uhuru Kenyatta has insisted that he fairly won the August 8 election that was declared null and void by the Supreme Court last week.

Speaking when he took his re-election campaigns in Kajiado County on Tuesday, the Jubilee Party leader maintained that he defeated his closest rival Raila Odinga of NASA with 1.4 million votes saying the decision by the court to nullify his win had angered him.

“I am angry because I was wronged. They wrongfully overturned my victory. We should tell the truth,” the President was quoted by the Nation.

The Head of State criticised the Supreme Court and Chief Justice David Maraga for their ruling, claiming the Judiciary overturned the will of the people of Kenya.

“Maraga and the other three judges nullified my re-election and ignored the will of the people to please one man. It would have been easier for the court to order a recount of the votes, but they chose a free election,” Uhuru said.
