President Uhuru Kenyatta has accused the media of clinging on the rather dying political debate in the nation.

Speaking during the launch of Thiba dam in Kirinyaga on Thursday, Uhuru said that the nation is already past the electioneering period urging the media to drop the election agenda for other nationally important issues.

He said that despite winning the elections, a victory that was then further confirmed by the court following a court battle with a group of objecting Kenyans, the media is still up and about the same issue through debates and analysis.

''We should accept the fact that the elections are already behind us.The media too should come to terms with this as it has stuck on the same issue. It has even made it hard for me to watch news or read newspapers because they address the same outdated topic,'' he said.

An end for the prolonged politicking period however seems to be not in sight judging by the activities of the opposition alliance NASA.

The former Prime Minister Raila Odinga-led opposition alliance has since refused to acknowledge Kenyatta's re-election and is also doubting his legitimacy.

It has therefore has vowed to legally unseat him.
