President Uhuru Kenyatta is set to visit Homa Bay county on Wednesday (today) ahead of the upcoming general elections.
Todays tour of the Head of State is the first to the county since his election as President four and half years ago.
Confirming the visit, Homa Bay County Commissioner Kassim Farrah and Karachuonyo MP James Rege said Uhuru will kick off his tour in Mbita town before traversing the county later in the day.
Uhuru's visit will see the official opening of the Sh1.5 billion Mbita Causeway Replacement Bridge which was completed a couple of months ago.
“We’ve received official communication from State House that the President will be here tomorrow. He will open the bridge officially,” Farah said.
On his part, Rege, who is also Jubilee's head of presidential campaigns in the region marked the visit as monumental, calling on the locals to shun violence during the event.
“The Jubilee administration has lined up a number of projects in Nyanza. They include the construction and tarmacking of the Kanyadhiang’–Kadiel and the Kendu Bay-Oyugis road, which is soon being tarmacked,” he said.
