President Kenyatta has succumbed to opposition Cord demands on dialogue but insisted that it should be done within the confines of the parliamentary standing orders.

However, speaking on Thursday at Kisii town during a wedding, Ong’era said the conditions were unnecessary and called for ‘Serena Like’ talks to end the IEBC stalemate that has rocked the country for months.

“I thank the president for being at least flexible and showing a willingness to solve the IEBC crisis but that is not enough because we still have many outstanding issues,” she said.

“The dialogue conditions were very tough yet we needed Serena like talks which will enable us to solve the matter outside parliamentary standing orders. It’s not late though and I think he should be a bit flexible and allow us to talk and solve the crisis once for all,” she added.

She also challenged the embattled commissioners to take a ‘courageous’ move and resign from their positions given their diminishing popularity among Kenyans.

“I think the commissioners also have an obligation to resign willingly to end this impasse. They should be courageous on this matter because we have seen many poll stars ranking them lowly and that is not a good signal for them but the president should allow this matter to be solved outside parliament,” she said.
