President Uhuru Kenyatta has criticized the United Nations for spending much of their money on expensive cars and huge salaries for its staff.
Speaking on Monday July 18, during the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), Mr Kenyatta appealed to the UN to engage Africans on how the continent can bast be developed.
"The UN spends billions of dollars on missions to Africa, but what impact do you have? You should come and ask us, how do we find solutions?" Mr Kenyatta said.
He further gave a soft swipe at the UN for spending to much of their resources in paying their workers salaries instead of directing the funds into activities that will make an impact in the continent's development.
"Interventions should be more than just paying salaries and buying big cars for your staff here, things that do not change anything," Kenyatta added.
However, the statement by the president raised mixed reactions among Kenyans who say that he must be sincere in what he reacts to specific cases.
They accused him of spending too much money on foreign trips which 'do not add value' to the lives of Kenyans.
