A visibly agitated president Uhuru Kenyatta indirectly fired warning at his Deputy William Ruto as fight against graft took a new dimension.
Last week, a section of MPs from Rift Valley discredited Uhuru's efforts against fighting graft, insisting that it targets Ruto.
"The war is systematic and it only targets to portray Ruto as corrupt. Focusing only on energy ministry makes it suspicious," said Nandi senator Simon Cherargei.
In recent weeks, the government has diverted its effort to wipe on graft on the energy ministry which is headed by Ruto's ally Charles Keter.
But in Mombasa on Thursday, Uhuru dismissed claims that the war against graft targets a specific individual of community.
"I have nothing against anyone. I heard when I was away some people saying that I am targeting a specific individual," he said in reference to remarks made by Ruto's allies.
"When you steal, you do it alone and you must take responsibility. Corruption does not know tribe," added Uhuru.
Although Ruto has not openly spoken about alleged witch hunt, his handlers believe that Uhuru is keen to use fight against graft to taint his name.
During the event, Uhuru vowed to ensure all public servants are subjected t lifestyle audit including himself and Ruto.
