President Uhuru Kenyatta’s concerted effort to tour coastal region could pay dividends in August elections should opinion polls released by a number of pollsters remain constant.
In 2013, Uhuru scored badly in all six coastal region counties, a reason where he has made numerous trips since the disastrous performance.
But on Tuesday, Infrotrack and the recent research by Ipsos Synovate showed that Uhuru’s graph was on an upward trajectory although he still lags behind opposition leader Raila Odinga.
This latest statistics could send shivers to Odinga’s point’s men particularly Mombasa governor Hassan Joho, who has been spearheading opposition campaigns in the region.
Interestingly, the statistics were released a day before President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Mombasa tour and exactly two days before Odinga’s visit.
A tough battle is expected between the two people with at least 1.7 million votes up for grabs, a substantial increase from 1.2 million that had registered prior to 2013 elections.
