Independent candidates who lost in the Jubilee Party primaries have resolved to back the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta during the August general election.

According to the candidates, their grassroots campaigns does not mean they have turned against President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Led by sitting Kiambu Governor William Kabogo, the politicians – who have united under the Kenya Alliance of Independent Candidates – said that their right to run as independents is enshrined in the constitution.

Kabogo said that independent candidates want to give Kenyans an alternative choice.
