The president who was in the company of his deputy William Ruto and other local politicians at a campaign rally in the area on Monday directed acting Interior CS Fred Matiangi to oversee the implementation of the directive and have the gazzete notice published in a week's time."I am aware that the residents here have been calling for this area to be elevated to a district and I would like to tell you that by next week the gazette notice should be out to that effect.Hon Matiangi kindly take charge of that," he said.
He added that the new District Commissioner should also report to his new workstation by next week.
This is not the first time the president is dishing goodies to the region having done so a month ago when he released funds to compensate IDPs in the area.Political pundits have since classified the county as a swing vote even as the election date draws closer.
