President Uhuru Kenyatta has been ordered to sack Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Willy Bett.
National Assembly Agriculture committee has given President Uhuru Kenyatta a three-day ultimatum to sack the CS over skyrocketing cost of living.
Led by Vice Chairman of the Committee Kareke Mbiuki, the MPs want Bett to be sacked or steps down failure to which they will lead mass action.
They have accused Bett of working with some individuals to create a shortage of essential commodities in order to hike prices.
They further blamed the government for ignoring the rising prices adding that some top government officials might be benefiting from the situation.
“The CS misled the house and the entire nation that we had sufficient food stocks. If indeed there were enough reserves, the CS should account for the two million bags, if not, he should also take responsibility for lying," he stated.
The same was reiterated by Ugunja lawmaker Opiyo Wandayi, Fred Outa (Nyando), Florence Mutua (Busia MP) and Mary Wambui Othaya who were also present at the press conference.
