The government will not stand any more damage of assets under the cover of street protests, President Uhuru Kenyatta has warned.
Addressing the public in Tala during the launch of development projects on June 10, Uhuru said that stern action will be taken against anyone who destroys public or private property while claiming to be holding peaceful demonstrations.
The president urged participants of the anti-IEBC demonstrations to use their intelligence and stop provoking security officers.
“We will not allow demonstrations to be used to destroy any property,” said the President.
In another statement from State House, the President Kenyatta advised the opposition leaders not to entertain any thoughts of him sitting down to discuss issues concerning the IEBC with them.
“I have no business sitting down with you. I was elected to steer the development of this country. These other issues are the roles of Members of Parliament,” he said.
In the company of other legislators, the president addressed the gathering after unveiling the Sh1 Billion project to see tarmacking of the Tala-Oldonyo Sabuk-Kilimambogo Road.
