[Photo/tuko.co.ke]A section of leaders from Western Kenya have thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta for nominating individuals from the region to his new administration.Led by former Cabinet Minister Musikari Kombo, the leaders lauded the nomination of Eugene Wamalwa and Rashid Mohammed Achesa as Cabinet Secretaries, expressing confidence that the two would help the President achieve his agenda.Speaking at the home of the late Yvonne Wamalwa, the widow of the late Vice President Michael Kijana Wamalwa, Kombo said the appointments came as a huge relief to the Luhya community."We have been wondering what will happen to Wamalwa after he missed out in the first list released three weeks ago. Now that he has been reappointed at the time we are mourning, I want to thank the President for consoling us in a special way," he said on Saturday.The former Sirisia MP added: "We are grateful because his nomination to the big and powerful Devolution Ministry is in itself a promotion."Wamalwa was reployed from Water and Irrigation to Devolution docket previously held by Mwangi Kiunjuri.Achesa, former ODM youth leader in Western, was nominated to the Ministry of Sports and Heritage which was previously headed by Hassan Wario.Former MP Noah Wekesa said the nomination of the two and former Budalang'i legislator Ababu Namwamba as Chief Administrative Secretary in Foreign Affairs ministry will help transform Western into Jubilee zone."Now that the President has shown that he cares about us, I can assure him that the Mulembe Nation will be fully behind his government," Wekesa said.
