Kabogo says that the opposition criticism of the government in regards to corruption is unfair and in bad faith saying that the opposition needs to support the government in the war against corruption.

Speaking during the Mashujaa day celebrations at Githunguri stadium on Thursday, Kabogo hit out at opposition leader Raila Odinga saying that he has not helped the government in the fight against graft.

“The opposition led by Raila should stop criticising the government on corruption and instead partner with the government in taming the vice,” he said.

Kabogo claimed that the opposition is using the issue of graft to gain political mileage ahead of the 2017 general elections.

He said that the war against corruption must be supported from all quarters of the political divide.

“Instead of the opposition making noise every day it should present ideas and new tactics that will combat graft,” he added.

Kabogo also asked the government agencies mandated to fight corruption to do their work well.

He said that it embarrassing that the agencies are heavily funded yet they are not serious in taming graft.

“The Police, the EACC, the DPP and others who are mandated to spearhead the war against graft must take their work seriously and ensure corruption is wiped out ,” he added.

Kabogo said that he will not tolerate graft in Kiambu.

The governor intimated that his government has taken a raft of measures to curb graft.

He said that the county has been able to collect more revenue for the last three years courtesy of the measures put in place to fight graft.

On Tuesday during a governance and accountability summit at State House in Nairobi, President Kenyatta scolded the Judiciary, the office of the DPP and EACC accusing the agencies of not doing enough to tame graft despite being given all the necessary resources.
