A fired president Uhuru Kenyatta is set for a two days tour to vote rich Eastern Mt. Kenya region, slightly a week after the opposition’s forays.

Last week opposition leader Raila Odinga took his campaigns to Meru and Tharaka Nithi, attracting mammoth crowds despite the region being viewed as a Jubilee zone.

And recently, Uhuru’s point’s man and Meru senator Kiraitu Murungi was forced to cut short his speech due to growing hostility towards Jubilee administration.

While Uhuru is working closely with Murungi, Odinga on his part has been working with Prof. Isaac Kindiki, a brother to senate Majority Leader Kithuru Kindiki along former Minister Kirugi M’kindia.

Kenyatta is facing a growing rebellion from the region that is associated with Miraa and tea farmers with a voting population of close to 1 million votes.

The Jubilee team is set to address a host of roadside rallies both in Meru and Tharaka Nithi Counties on Friday and Saturday this week.

President Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto have been touring western and Rift Valley regions before winding up their busy schedule in Kiambu on Sunday.
