President Uhuru Kenyatta is set to tour Narok County on Friday, a region that has been associated with a shift to opposition NASA, and five months to elections.
Recently, State House strategists earmarked the county as one of the tossup regions that Jubilee Party will bank on in August.
In 2013, although Uhuru lost to Odinga in the region, the race was however too close with Odinga managing only 51 percent of votes.
And his tour could be triggered by recent defections that saw Narok west MP Patrick Ntutu joining Chama Cha Mashinani, a party associated with Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto.
Mr Rutto, a chief critic of Jubilee administration, has been pitching tent in the region drumming support for Ntutu alongside rebellious Emurua Dikir MP Johanna Ng’eno.
The two, together with Baringo senator Gideon Moi have been traversing the region, rallying against Jubilee government; a move would have further pushed Uhuru to visit the area.
Despite the resistance from Maa community, Kenyatta is enjoying support from incumbent governor Samuel Ole Tunai, who launched his reelection bid on last month.
