Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma is expected to lead a high-powered delegation in welcoming the president to the lakeside town.

Kenyatta will chair a cabinet meeting for the first time ever while in Kisumu, sources say.

He was last month expected to commission a number of projects in Nyanza region but the visit was cancelled in the last minute, following the disruption of his meeting in Migori.

Meanwhile, Kisumu County MCAs and their governor are meeting today to plan on welcoming Kenyatta’s visit.

Deputy President William Ruto, while speaking in Migori yesterday, said that the government will develop all parts of the country irrespective of the political affiliation.

Ruto praised Migori residents for apologising to the president over the recent heckling incident.

Migori County Commissioner Ann Ngetich assured all leaders of their security in the area and further insisted that Migori will never experience an incident similar to last month’s.
