The president will host a Tourism Summit at State House, Mombasa, to discuss strategies of boosting the sector.

In a statement to newsroom, State House spokesman Manoah Esipisu said tourism in the country is finding its feet following a number of government incentives and subsidies.

"After significant setbacks, the sector is in full recovery. First, a number of government incentives have made a difference, among them the scrapping of VAT for park entry fees, concessions for younger visitors and a vigorous new marketing campaign. Tourist numbers and occupancy have both recovered," said Esipisu.

The head of state will on Thursday officially open the Agricultural Society of Kenya Mombasa International Show in Mkomani, and commission the first phase of Mombasa Port's second container terminal on Friday.

He will also meet local leaders to consult on issues such as devolution, among others.
