President Uhuru Kenyatta will not visit Tharaka Nithi and Meru counties, Tuesday as it had earlier been planned.
State House spokesman Manoah Esipisu, said Uhuru’s two-day tour was cancelled due to inevitable situations.
“Due to unavoidable circumstances, his Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta will not be making a two-day visit to Tharaka Nithi and Meru counties, starting tomorrow, as had earlier been indicated,” Esipisu said in a statement, Monday.
The Head of State is now expected later in the week to tour Western region, which is believed to be opposition stronghold, in bid to drum up support for his Jubilee party.
“President Uhuru Kenyatta will however, make a visit to the Western region of Kenya later on in the week, which include Trans Nzoia, Bungoma, Busia and Kakamega counties. A detailed programme will be issued in due course,” Esipisu added.
Uhuru was expected to commission roads, health facilities and other development initiatves in the two counties.
Last week, the president toured Gusii region, an area perceived to be opposition stronghold, to popularize his party and woe residents to re-elect him in the upcoming August polls.
