President Uhuru Kenyatta wills on Tuesday tae his campaigns in Migori and Kisii Counties, perceived home turf of opposition leader Raila Odinga amid alleged police killings in the region.
Amnesty international estimates that 33 people have died since August with most linked with brutal execution by the police and the number could be higher following recent killings in Kisumu.
But the unmoved president will campaign in Tabaka in Kisii and some parts of Migori, in the interior strongholds of Odinga.
NASA has suspended Tuesday’s protests to allow its leaders attend to injured followers who are admitted in different hospitals across the country.
“We have cancelled Tuesday’s protests and we shall resume on Wednesday. This will allow our leaders visit victims of police brutality,” read a statement from Odinga’s spokesman Dennis Onyango.
At Kisii, South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro urged locals to attend Uhuru’s rally and challenged them to ‘take as much’ but in return vote for Odinga.
“I hear Uhuru will visit Tabaka on Tuesday. Those who are ready to attend can do it but just remember we shall vote Odinga.”
