President Kenyatta has termed affront on democracy the recent move by ODM to hand direct nomination tickets to more than 400 aspirants.
Uhuru said that the action was a clear evidence that ODM boss Raila Odinga was not concerned with upholding democracy.
He further criticised the 'Father of Democracy' title ascribed to Raila, saying that his actions did not tally with the title.
“He says he is the father of democracy. Which father of democracy doles out certificates to politicians without having the input of the people?” he asked.
The president was addressing residents of Wangige market in Kiambu County, where he said the ODM leaders is more interested in sycophants than real democracy.
“For him, it is about who pays more and who can kneel better before him. As Jubilee, we have said that no nomination certificate will be handed out until the primaries are over,” he added.
He said he had stopped engaging the opposition leaders long ago, arguing that they were no match for him.
“I stopped engaging them, even that man from Mombasa (Governor Hassan Joho), I was done with him while in Mombasa and I do not know to whom he keeps talking to,” he said.
