Uhuru said, the veteran politician was a generous man who was fully devoted to the education of young Kenyans and dedicated to uplifting the community and the country.
"From humble beginnings in Elgeyo Marakwet, he worked successively in the Ministry of Agriculture, Treasury, and in the Ministry of Home Affairs," Uhuru said in a statement.
"He funded many scholarships, and never ceased to insist that young men and women take every opportunity to improve themselves," the head of state said.
"Many of us have cause to be thankful for this aspect of his character. He never forgot where he came from," he added.
Uhuru condoled with the family, especially his wife and children saying Biwott was a principled man who believed in diligence and intelligence in his life.
He said: "These were the qualities that propelled his rise through the ranks of government. They were balanced by his private warmth, wit, attention to detail, and love of family."
