In his Coastal campaigns on Monday, President Uhuru Kenyatta came head on with anti – IEBC protestors on his way to Kongowea market.
Earlier, his troops led by Mike Sonko had also faced hash reception from a few locals who chanted pro- Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho slogans.
And a video footage circulating online shows Uhuru’s motorcade forced to speed off as the demonstrators’ approaches a bisection leading to Nyali constituency where Uhuru held a mega rally.
The protestors, who were pushing for reforms within the electoral body IEBC, are heard wailing at Uhuru’s motorcade even with a strong presence of the police.
Moments after the convoy disappeared to vicinity, the protestors went on chanting anti – Jubilee slogans even though no case of disruption was reported at the president’s rally.
Jubilee party is on a charm offensive in the coastal region with just few days to election, which the opposition has however, vowed to boycott.
During the August 8th elections, NASA leader Raila Odinga topped in all six coastal counties, a situation which Jubilee is keen to rectify.
