President Uhuru Kenyatta has started an enthusiastic campaign in defense of his reelection victory during the October 26 presidential repeat polls.
Uhuru was declared winner of the poll, having garnered more than 95 per cent of the votes cast.
His closest challenger and NASA leader Raila Odinga had previously announced his withdrawal from the race, citing lack of electoral reforms within IEBC.
Despite Uhuru's emphatic win, petitioners have move to the Supreme Court, seeking the annulment of the president's victory.
In his response to the petition by Njonjo Mue and Khalef Khalifa, President Kenyatta has urged the Supreme Court to dismiss the petition, branding the petitioners as “surrogates, agents, and mouth-pieces” of the National Super Alliance (NASA).
“From the outset, I must state that the petition was filed in bad faith at the behest of NASA to nullify the October 26 presidential results for the benefit of Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka. Their petition consists of flip-flops and distorted narrative which do not present the true position,” Uhuru remarked.
He observed that the petitioners were part of NASA's demonstrations pushing for electoral reforms.
NASA did not file any petition seeking the nullification of the October 26 polls.
