President Uhuru Kenyatta insists that his government would not allow politicians to incite Kenyans to spark violence ahead of this year’s general elections.
Uhuru also urged politicians to regulate their political tones to allow peace prevail during this electioneering year.
Speaking at Mombasa on Saturday, the head of state urged opposition politicians to engage government with real issues rather deviating to divisive politics.
“I want to let Kenyans know that we will not allow anyone to drive our country into violence. We will fight such efforts with every mean at our disposal,” Uhuru said.
The President added: “We have not worked hard as people to be diverted to a useless and violent destination by individual who have so little to offer. We will not allow anyone to interfere with the will of our people.”
Uhuru is facing a tough contest from a resurgent opposition under the stewardship of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
