The meeting between Uhuru Kenyatta and the IEBC commission that was supposed to take place today, Monday, has failed to take place.

There were indications that the meeting will flop, especially after Raphael Tuju’s statement on Sunday, where he said the party had no issue to talk about with the commission.

The meeting was slated for this afternoon, but the president is leading his Jubilee Party in the last campaign rally across Nairobi.

Last week on Thursday, the IEBC had called for a meeting to solve issues dogging the electoral body before this week’s poll.

However, the commission met NASA flagbearer Raila Odinga in a meeting that lasted one hour, which Raila said he was pleased about.

The IEBC has been accused of unpreparedness by NASA, a fear that was confirmed by the chairman Wafula Chebukati, who said he could not guarantee a free and fair election.

His statement came a day after Roselyn Akombe, a commissioner with the electoral body, resigned, citing political interference in their activities.

The Jubilee Party has maintained that there was nothing to discuss between them and the IEBC, noting that the commission was not a mediator but a referee in the whole exercise.

The election exercise is expected to kick off on Thursday, after the first batch of ballot papers arrived in the country on Saturday.
