Despite the disconnect back home, President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to address the world’s most powerful leaders G7 Summit later this month. Uhuru is the only African leader who has been invited to the ‘big boys’’ exclusive summit to be held on May 26 and 27 in Taormina, Sicily, in Italy.The summit will focus on the global economy, foreign policy, security of citizens and environmental sustainability.The annual event will see the G7 leaders- UK’s Theresa May, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Emmanuel Macron, US President Donald Trump, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzō Abe, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni meet Uhuru, for the first time together, since his case at the ICC were dropped.Others expected at the meet include European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and European Union President Donald Tusk.Uhuru is the first Kenyan leader to be invited to the gathering which shapes global responses to global challenges and complementing the global economic coordination carried out by the G20.State House spokesman Manoah Esipisu confirmed the president will attend the Summit, according to the Star.The last summit was in Japan last year.
